LUISE KUMMER OF GERMANY BECOMES A CHAMPION OF EUROPE IN MASS START


In the last women race of Biathlon European Championships German athlete Luise Kummer celebrated a double-digit victory. Having two missed targets in shooting biathlete fr om Germany was really fast on the track.

Weather conditions tried to influence the results of the race. Snow and gusty wind were the reasons of many unsuccessful shootings today.

“Because of the wind I had to spend more time concentrating on the shooting range. I was a bit lucky, as on my last shooting wind subsided and I used this opportunity” – said German athlete after the race.

The leaders of the race kept changing after every shooting. On the last leg Luise Kummer was chased by Paulina Fialkova, Olga Yakushova, Anastasia Zagoruiko and Ingrid Tandrevold. To great regret of local sport fans, Russian athletes were not able to win medals. It is the third race in a row wh ere Russia has 4th place.

“I had three missed targets today, so I needed to ski really fast. My main competitions of this season are the races of World Championships. However, I am very satisfied with winning two silver medals here in Tyumen” - said a silver medalist of mass start Paulina Fialkova of Slovakia.

“It was not easy today on the last leg, however, I realized that I shouldn’t give up. Hope I didn’t make Russian fans too angry with me” – concluded 19 y.o. Ingrid Tandrevold after the race.

It is to be noted that before the start the overcrowded stadium was greeted by famous and legendary Russian athletes – Anfisa Reztsova, Galina Kukleva, Albina Akhatova and Dmitry Vasiliev.
